OK, guys, a friend has ask me to suggest 3 of the top DL programs for a PhD in Business. I believe in Capella (went there) but I am not sure about 2 others. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Howard Rodgers

I'd argue for NSU (having gone there myself). It is hard not to include them given their size, length of time in the market and influence. Perfect? Hardly - but certainly a solid choice.

I'm big on NSU for several reasons. First their required face to face time means that you actually get to see and talk with peers and faculty. I spent some 76 days of on-site learning (in cluster and Ft. Lauderdale based classes) over my 4.5 years of study. Second, NSU does maintain a fairly sizable full-time faculty, in addition to a part-time crew. Third, given their size they have specific coursework (that you take with peers) in areas like finance, IT, marketing, HR, international, etc. Sure you can study these areas at other schools - but do they have enough students at any one time to offer a course in market research or enterprise architecture?

    Thanks - Andy

I know nothing about business programs. However, I tend to see one thing in NSU's favor and therefore support Dr. Borchers. It is a large brick & mortar school. So, in spite of all the talk on another thread of it being a US News fourth tier school, it does have this fact in it's favor over schools like Walden, Argosy, and Capella. I think all of them are expensive with Argosy being slightly cheaper. I do not know enough to compare quality between the three. NSU's business department may also be accredited (???) I don't know but that is something to check on.

Another much newer option is Northcentral. They are only candidates for accreditation at this point but are less expensive than the others.

Personally, if money were not an issue for me I would choose NSU because of the factors mentioned above. No it is not Harvard, UT Austin, Duke, etc., but it a solid & large school.

I like Northcentral. This may be my ticket to a PhD in Psychology to offset my minor PhD in Human Services. A general psych from Northcentral and a Clinical Psych certification from Fielding would be a good ticket. And for a lot less $ than any other option I have looked at. Doable in about 3 years -

What is the probability that Northcentral will NOT be accredited - and is there a reasonable timetable. Capella was not accredited when I started there.

    Thanks,
