I'm looking to take 12-15 credit hours in accounting to satisfy admission into a Masters in Accounting program. LSU is looking like the best option at this point, but the one thing that worries me is that those courses are independent study. Does anyone know of any courses out there that are relatively cheap and only 8 weeks long?

    Thanks,

    Matt

Well, I don't think any other schools would beat LSU. Especially, you don't need a degree just the credits.

For cost, you're not going to beat LSU.

    Another Option

I had good experience with the accounting program at Nova Southeastern. There MACC program worked well for me - combined synchronous and asynchronous work.

I routinely refer my new grad students that are in your situation to LSU.

However, this might not be a good option for someone with NO undergraduate accounting courses. You might want to check out a community college (dl or b&m) for the first year accounting courses.

If you already have six hours in accounting, you should be able to handle the LSU courses.

The accounting courses through Peru State College are only $500 each.

If ACE-reviewed courses will suit your needs, the courses at Penn Foster College are only about $50 per credit hour, or $150 per course. It's hard to beat that price.

Clovis Community College offers Intro to Accounting I & II - the cost is $172 for each course. The term is a standard semester however.
