College Algebra--what's the best course around?

I have to earn at least 2 semester credits in algebra or statistics to fulfill Excelsior’s requirements for my B.A.. Frankly, I don’t even remember how to solve a second grade equation, therefore I ruled out statistics, which is somewhat more complicated. After looking thoroughly at Clep and Dantes algebra tests, I realized that I need to study quite seriously to pass. Because of my messy schedule, I resolved to enroll in a self-paced (i.e. asynchronous) distance learning College Algebra course. Brigham Young University’s MATH 110 seems quite good, and reasonably priced ($294 + books), but it also has a lot more lessons (39) than others courses I have seen around.
Does anybody have some experience with College Algebra courses and/or tests? Any suggestion?
    Thank you in advance. Bests,
    Giancarlo

There is a CLEP-Algebra preparation book from Research & Education Association available at Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0878918981/qid=1006364280/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_14_1/102-6753970-6832948
It reviews the stuff covered by CLEP and has sample exams. I myself have a copy and intend to use it for the CLEP. Also, check out the reviews of this book at Amazon.com.

If you are not comfortable with diving into a clep exam without any structure you might try istudy smart. they provide study questions and assignements for clep subjects.

I could not get myself to just read a book and take the exam, so I am trying this for my last 3 credits in Ethics.

Dan, thank you for the hint; I didn’t know istudysmart. How is your actual experience with them? Are you satisfied? I have visited the site, and they have a “workbook format” course to help taking the CLEP College Algebra. But they charge $199 for the course, which is about the cost of a regular College Algebra correspondence course at LSU (www.is.lsu.edu). Before spending that money, I would like to have some real feedback.
Dennis, thank you too. I already have that guide. I also bought the Schaum’s outline on College Algebra. But, as Dan has pointed out, I don’t feel confident simply cramming through the guide before taking the test.
Does anybody out there have some experience with any College Algebra correspondence course?
    Bests,

I am waiting for my books, but I have looked at the first couple of questions and I like what I see so far. I will keep you informed as to how it goes.

I notice that istudysmart.com also has a monthly payment plan--$29.99--through which you can get a new course of materials each month. Or else pay 12 months in advance for $325--get 12 courses opf materials at once!
    Sounds smart to me.

It's in the FAQ, click on SmartPLan....

I've always found Louisiana State University to have among the least expensive distance education courses. Their current rate is $201 per 3-credit undergrad course. Needless to say, they are regionally accredited. Check them out at:
