Sorry, it's me again. I am helping my wife Kim prepare for the DANTES Technical writing test. I printed off the study guide from the DANTES website. Is there something else I could use that is cheap? Should I just order any used book off the internet on Technical writing? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, Abner
I used to use this book, but if you can find on the IntantCert...then it is cheapter. http://www.amazon.com/DSST-Technical-Writing-DANTES-Dantes/dp/0837366437/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1220321318&sr=8-1 Only $21.00...resale it after you're done... so you don't lose anything.
Thanks! How did you find this test? Difficult, medium, so, so? My wife is a good writer and is very good with English, composition, etc. Thanks once again, Abner
I took and passed this test cold... As long as you have worked in an office environment this is a pretty easy one to pass… Good Luck
>> I second that. I printed off the same study guide you did. I googled "technical writing" and found a few interesting web sites as well as a few vocab words. Start with the freebies. I don't think you need a book for this, there was some editing- a little bit of grammar. A couple questions more specific to trade writing, but I recall the answers being pretty obvious. The most difficult question I had was something about the sequence you would present information (which comes first: the abstract, title page, references, etc?)
I found it was easier than English Composition. If she is good with English Composition, then she doesn't need that textbook. Check out these... http://www.4shared.com/network/search.jsp?searchmode=2&searchName=technical+writing
