Just thought I would throw out there that we are developing a 17 unit distance ed certificate program at Merritt College in Oakland, CA

We are offering an Intro to Moodle class starting on September 8th, all online, for three units. It is a 6 week course

Just trying to get the word out.

Here is more info about the class

Why would anyone want to take this class? I am sure that if most of the institution uses Blackboad and WebCT. The Moodle is free, I don't think lot of colleges use it. Except Andrew Jackson University...

Athabasca University uses Moodle. While the number of schools currently utilizing Moodle is small there is no reason to think Blackboard and WebCT, both owned by the same company, will always be the dominant players in the market.

Hi Alexis, welcome to the board.

Does Merritt have a program website? How and where do we enroll in the classes? What other classes besides Moodle does the curriculum include? Can we take classes individually, or must we be admitted to the program first? Is this open to students outside the Peralta district (I'm located across the bay in San Mateo CC district territory), to students out-of-state and to international students? What about in-person meetings? Are you charging the almost laughably low (and very tempting) California CC fees for this, or are there higher extension fees or something? Are there any additional add-on fees? If we don't make the deadline for your Moodle class, can we still enter the program, or is it a cohort deal with a set progression of classes?

This is something that I might be interested in doing, if all of the details cooperate.

Additionally, many corporations and non-profits currently utilize Moodle for various purposes.
