I have been waiting for a review of my credit transfer to TESC. I read that TESC will take as many as 120 credits as long as they come from a 4 year College/University.

Is there anyone on this forum done just that? What was your maximum number of transfer credit to TESC?

I have 110 at Excelsior College. These are from College of Lake County, Pensacola Junior College, Community College of the Air Force and some from the Navy.

I do have more from the Navy. An official transcript was not sent to them. The credit awarded to me was taken off the CCAF transcript.

I actually have 81 total credits from the Navy.

My question is......As long as the transcript comes from Excelsior (a four year College) how will they,TESC, treat the credits? Will they be seen as being from a four year college?

    Thanks, Jim

Yes, EC is a regionally accredited 4 year college, so your fine. Credits that were "laundered" through EC will be evaluated from the originating institution, you'll probably need to send original transcripts.

Just curious, your so close, why transfer now?

TESC only has a limit of 80 or 90 credit hours I think can be from 2-year schools while there is no limit on the credit hours transferable from 4-year schools. All those credits should transfer into TESC just fine with transcripts from the original schools provided no more than 80 or 90 total come from 2-year schools.

How many credit hours came from each of the colleges and from the USAF and USN? Are you only missing upper level (300 and 400) courses at Excelsior College? It appears you only have 10 credit hours (3-4 courses) left to complete your degree at Excelsior College; why change now?

The credit hours from the Navy might work at TESC and thereby allow you to bypass the 2-year college transfer credit limit. Then you would have two degrees.

The problem is that the credits are from the military and are 100 and 200 series.

I am looking for the degree and not necessarily the training/knowledge.

If you add them up, I have over 200 hours.

I need to change the amount of credit. The total comes to 165.
    Excelsior- 110

    These are from:
    PJC-23 hours
    CLC-34 hours
Navy-26 hours, actually have a total of 81 hours
    Air Force-27 hours

Keep in mind that these are 100 and 200 series credits.

PJC and CLC are junior colleges.

Thomas Edison State College has NO upper level (300 and 400) credit hour requirement. Many students complete their degrees with only lower level (100 and 200) credit hours. Therefore, you could earn a BA from TESC while also earning an AA/AS at EC. EC also offers military-specific AA/AS/AAS degrees; have you looked into them as a complement to a BA from TESC?

    Thanks,

I do have an AAS from Excelsior College. My next step is to complete the BA/BS degree. So far it looks as if TESC will be the next step. I will check with the in the next few days to see if my transcripts have arrived.

I just got my credit review back from CCU.

I have been given 29 course credits (87 units of the 126 required).
That leaves me 13 courses (39 units) to complete for the BSBA.

I have reviewed my matrix from CCU. I have found that if certain courses were moved around and two courses used that were previously overlooked,
I can take the minimum amount (30 units, 10 courses) to finish.

I have submitted a request for another review.

If all goes as planned, I hope to finish with a BSET at TESC and a BSBA at CCU.

    So that is the plan.....

The ability to satisfy upper level credit requirements from 200-level classes applies only to the BA degree. Others, e.g. the BSN, require upper level credits.

Within a BA degree, two 100-level classes maximum and a combination of 200-, 300- and 400-level classes satisfies the upper level credit requirement.

TESC will want transcripts from every school you've attended, so the community college credits will be evaluated as such. You can transfer a maximum of 80 semester hours from community colleges.

Thanks for the information. The real question is..... I have 110 from Excelsior College. Will TESC accept the total amount?
I also have 65 more from the Navy in Electronics. Will these be accepted?

    Thanks, Jim

TESC will take up to 80 credit hours from community colleges. The other 40 can be from military training, CLEP, DANTES, other 4-year universities, wherever. For my degree requirements I transferred in 20+ upper level credits from ODU and EC, 80 from various community colleges, and the rest via CLEP and DANTES.
