is there a point to apply with 0 credits and enroll right away?

Personally, I would take as many CLEP and DANTES exams as possible before applying. Might as well get a head start before the tuition clock starts ticking.

I agree with Bruce on this one. If you don't have any credits yet, wait and accumulate some before enrolling. You can pull up a breakdown of degree requirements on their web site to see what you need to use as a guide. Accumulate a bunch of credits and then enroll. There's no use in paying the annual enrollment fee when you don't have to.

I agree with Bruce and AV8R.
I just about earned all my credits before I enrolled. Why spend money when you don't need to?
    The degree requirements are clear.

I applied when I only had 6 units or so to complete so that I could be sure of getting good acceptable units.
For example I had planned on doing Introductory astrophysics, an upper level course at CSUDH, but Excelsior did not agree it was upper level so I took another subject.

  5. The only time I'd disagree with you all is when the degree requirements are about to change.

For example, I enrolled before they instituted the information literacy requirement so I was grandfathered in and didn't have to take it. Other changes might relate to whether or not a course is allowable to meet a degree requirement, etc.

Should Excelsior plan new changes as of Jan 1st 2009 (they seem to tweak their program at the first of every calendar year) it's worthwhile to understand what they might be and then decide to enroll by Dec 31st or not. Of course, if there aren't any changes, or if they are minor, then waiting makes perfect sense.

oh.. sorry that i wasn't clear
    I have over 120 credits
I'm missing some requirements though... taking science tommorow...
history next week and math in 3 about three weeks (after I come back from vacation...) so my question is...
Should I apply now... not tell them how many credits I have, so they don't wait for the official transcripts to do an evaluation and then enroll in 2 days...
or should I do the unofficial evaluation? and take longer... it anyways takes a few weeks to get dante results...

  7. If you're confident that you can get the remaining requirements done in a year, then you can enroll any time. There are no benefits or reduction in fees if you get done in a month or a year - it's pretty much the same price (unless they raise it in-between).

Also, if you're sure you are going to enroll with Excelsior, then there's really no point paying for the evaluation.

What do you mean by payibg for the evaluation... don't you need to apply even if you want to start right away... you can't just enroll...

Im studying at Penn Foster and i plan to take LSU classes as well... and give the price probably AJU classes too... if i before enrollment open a credit bank account would they evaluate my credits (I'm especially concerned about the NA non-Ace reviewed) and after have a whole bunch of credit to transfer banked then go ahead and enroll? makes sense?

    thanks

oh by the way.. i called Excelsior yesterday and one of the admissions counselors told me they would take Penn Foster college classes with grade letters and solely with t he Penn Foster official transcript no need to go to Ace.

Anyboy has a previous experience with that?

    thanks II

True, but some general education requirements (English Comp I & II, College Math, General Psych, etc.) will always be the same, so I would recommend knocking those out with exams if possible before enrolling. Plus there is always the free electives category to plug extraneous credits into.

Agreed; if you can definitely finish within one year, might as well get going sooner rather than later.

I believe Excelsior won't do a formal (binding) credit evaluation until you're actually enrolled and have paid the tuition/fees.
