I need a little help. After paying an application fee, how does the system work? I know that I have to send in my transcripts in for a review. Do I pay for each additional credit as I earn them? Will they automaticlly add to may account as I send them in to the school? Do I have to have a major?

    Thanks, Jim

I have a TESC credit bank. You pay your fee to open the bank, then send in transcripts to have them reviewed and added to your account. There are no per-credit fees assessed. I prefered TESC over Excelsior because TESC will add credits from schools that are candidates for regional accreditation, Excelsior will not. TESC will also bank FEMA credits, directly from FEMA. Excelsior requires FEMA credits to first be transcripted at Frederick Community College at a cost of $60 each.

With the TESC Credit Bank you will pay a single fee an get one year of service. You can send all transcipts for evaluation at no addition cost during that year. After that year you cannot add more credits without paying for another year. You will always be able to get a copy of your transcript, even if you do not pay the fee for a second year.

TESC will add all credits sent them to your transcript, as long as they are something they consider worthy of credit. You do not have to declare a major. You cannot declare a major with a credit bank account.

The only problem I really had with the TESC credit bank account was that they got confused with military transcripts, with ACE rated courses. They would often write and tell me a course was not ACE rate. I would respond with a printout from the ACE catalog showing the course was ACE rated and a link to the course on the ACE website. They backed down every time. It was just annoying.

The TESC Credit Bank was the bet way to get FEMA course turne into college credit.

I think besides turning FEMA into credit for use in another school (which is a big risk anyway) I didn't find the credit bank be all that useful. Can I ask what you hope to use it for?
As I re-read your question, I have a new question- are hoping to earn a degree through the use of your credit bank?

At this time, I may have enough credits for a degree. I did not know about TESC until just recently.
I have just sent in the list of schools and ACE credits to TESC. I hope to hear from them in the next week.
Right now just finishing a degree is the most important. I may have enough credit in the electronics field to receive a BSET. If not, I will request a Liberal Arts Degree.
I have 32 years work experience and if I want to be promoted, a degree is needed.

Ok, so what you need is a credit evaluation- not a banking service. The banking just "holds" your credits for you, they don't organize them into any type of degree.
TESC's liberal arts degree is fast , but if you have a lot of technical credits there may be better suited credits. Actually, if you already have credit, almost anything you do is just a matter of plugging the holes with classes and test. I hope someone here can help you in that regard. I earned my BA from TESC, and it was very straight forward. All the best!
