Great stuff, Sunny. If U.S. News keeps it on their website, it will continue to be another valuable resource for us.

I have just come from the USNews site listed in Sunnies post. There I completed the online form, searching for information on DL Doctoral level programs in the "Social Science and History" category. Among the results I received were George Wasington University and Southern University. When I followed the provided links it appeared that GWU offered no such program and the Southern University link lead perpetually to the same index page (which offered no real info). Perhaps I should be more patient but this USNews site does not seem to be as useful in reality as it initially suggests.

Jack -- when I ran the same search for doctorate in social science and history -- I came up with Fielding and Walden. I used online, doctorate, social science and history, instructional delivery mode www/internet. I left the rest blank.

I ran several searches -- both undergrad and grad -- using the same procedure -- checking only online and delivery mode www/internet. Each came up with valid and useful information.

Once I started putting in tuition and financial aid choices, however, obviously the choices became much smaller.

Since I am most familiar with the education degrees available online, I ran many different kinds of searches in that area -- all came up with good info that I had previously found in other searches as well.

Just a thought for future searches.

Sunnie - My search came up with Fielding and Walden as well but because these are such well known programs I didn't bother to click on them. I'm glad that some of the info provided is useful but this doesn't change the fact that much of it is not.

The US News site has a "Recommended Reading" page. Lists Dr. Bear's BG14 in the pack, right alongside the infamous Helm & Helm. Plus other books by Stevenson and by Gilbert that I don't know. Anbody else know these?

But I'm sure people will go for Dr. Bear's book, since there's a picture of him NAKED on the cover. [IMG]

I notice Amazon currently has a special "promotion" -- buy Bear&Bear AND Helm&Helm and you get both for 30% below list price.

I just got around to reading the "hard" copy of this article. Did any else notice that on page 70 they warn readers to beware of institutions that don't enroll students from a particular state and on page 79 is an ad for Kennedy-Western? At last report, Kennedy-Western in an effort to avoid California regulation, did not accept applications from California residents.
