I am interested in getting into Human Resources Management.
I am late to apply for any brick and mortar institutes for an MBA, and I have not even taken my GMAT yet.
I am worried that after this year is gone I will have other commitments like my family and will not be able to do a full time MBA in a brick and mortar school.
Hence I am looking at certificate courses at reputed institutes.
My plan is to take up a certificate course from an institute like Baruch or some other and try and get an entry level job in HR. I spoke to the people at Baruch and they said there wont really be campus placements if one does a certificate program but I could make contacts with people and students and try on my own for a job.
Is this a clear signal that it is extremely difficult to get a job after a certificate program or is there hope and should I go for it.
    I need your advice.
    Thanks,
    Adoncia

It depends on what background you come from. If you are say in IT, you could try and move into HR within an IT firm. Then you can move on, after having gained some experience.

Regarding programs, look at the offering from e-Cornell.

Sullivan University (regionally accredited by SACS), offers online certificate programs in Human Resources Leadership in four specialty areas (employee relations, organizational effectiveness, organizational diversity or dispute resolution). Students are admitted four times per year. Sullivan also offers A.S., B.S. and M.S. degrees in Human Resource Leadership, all of which are available online. http://www.sullivan.edu/e-learning/

Sullivan also has a career placement office which has a nearly 100% success rate, so, yes, you can get a job.
