Hi - Depending on what you need to know, you can check here http://www.unesco.org/iau/onlinedatabases/index.html it is the unesco online database of schools. The publication you reference is quite expensive. The database can be searched for free. Good luck, Mary

The online data base it's not enough. I need more information as UNESCO has. I read on a internet site that this UNI is closed since 2004, but they still offer Courses, ??????

Hi Lelica - The fact that you can not get a clear answer to such a basic question should be all the information you need to convince yourself that a much better choice is surely available. Rather than pursue a school with doubtful heritage, perhaps you'll tell what you are interested in studying and then we can give you some solid suggestions as to which schools might suit your needs.

Empresarial has a long, checkered history. Here are the basics:

There is/was a school in Costa Rica with that name. They do/did offer degrees. But they are/were not approved by CONESUP to award the doctorate. Yet they did. Maybe. There are people who clame Empresarial doctorates, but it is not clear whether or not the school actually awarded them.

There was/is an agent operating out of the U.S. who handle(d) the doctoral programs. The website is in English, the prices are in U.S. dollars, no faculty have ever been listed, etc. Real millish. When I called the Costa Rican embassy here in the U.S., they acknowledged the existence and recognition of the school, but not the doctoral programs.

My take: some person or persons rented the degree-awarding authority from Empresarial to allow a U.S.-centric program to operate. (Very much like MIGS) Tough to pin down legally.

If anyone has information to belie the above theory, I'd love to read about it.

On another note, what do you guys know about the Siuth African Theological Seminary. They claim proper accreditation from all of the same sources as UNISA, but they are not listed in the UNESCO Handbook. Are they legit? Would the degrees be considered equal to a U.S. degree by a foreign credential evaluation service?

Today I recieve this email from CONESUP:

Let me inform you that according to your query, effectively "Universidad Empresarial" is authorized by CONESUP (remember that accredits CONESUP not only authorizes) but this is not currently in operation.

    Sincerely

Pugbelly, you asked almost exactly the same question on July 29, 2008 and their where many degreeinfo member responses to your question.

If you plan to undertake Graduate level (Online) study you must learn how to perform your own RESEARCH or have a very fat check book :). South African Schools are 100% independent study or very close to it.

I quickly performed a word search and came up with the following:

    http://www.degreeinfo.com/showthread.php?t=28478&highlight=South+African+Theological+Seminary

I hope my search yields you the answers you seek.

Thank you. I've already done a good amount of research and have no problem digging up the dirt on this or any other topic. I've already combed through the SATS site and a few of the South African government websites. However, I believe that working hard and working smart are not always the same thing. If I can benefit from the knowledge of others on the forum, fantastic! The accreditation system of South Africa is a little confusing to me, especially because the accreditation/recognition statements of SATS and other schools (like UNISA) are not the same. I became more confused when I didn't see SATS listed in the UNESCO handbook and was hoping to benefit from someone's first hand experience.

Also I called today the Oregon Office of Degree Authorisation http://www.osac.state.or.us/oda/ and I asked about Empresarial. They told me that the Bachelor and Master degree offered by this Institution are recognized and are equivalent to a US Bachelor and Master degree, and that the Empresarial is Accredited.

I don't have any interess to make publicity for this UNI. All what I wrote, was researched from me in internet.

Yet they offer the doctorate. To Americans. In English. Administered from the U.S. Paid for in U.S. Dollars. With no faculty listed. With no curriculum proposed. With no authority to award such degrees. Oh, my.
