    Nationally Accredited Master's Programs

Just a quick question for anyone who may know, but can anyone advise as to which, if any, of the listed schools below may follow a similar course of instruction as CCU (CalCoast)? Also who is the lowest cost too?

    Thanks!!

American Military University (DETC and RA)
    Andrew Jackson University (DETC)
    Ashworth University (DETC)
    Columbia Southern University (DETC)
    Everest University (ACICS)
    Southwest University (DETC)

I don't know what CCU's method is, I'm just curious why you're only interested in NA programs?

For value and utility, go for an RA masters in lieu of a DETC program.

ShotoJuku asked specifically about the above schools. That's why I gave him pricing info on those specific schools.

Thanks Ted, looks like Southwest is the winner (for me) and NA is (for my needs) just as good as an RA.

The last time I checked (several years ago), BU was $2100 per 3-credit course. I usually don't recommend their DL CJ Master's program because it's simply a cash cow for them; BU doesn't even have a Criminal Justice department, and the DL program is administered by a private company in Florida. You're literally paying for the name.

ShotoJuku....there are four RA programs which are cheaper than Southwest, and as John Bear liked to say, keep in mind your "current and future needs". Can't go wrong with RA.

Wow! That would be $700/hr., which multiplied by 40 hours is $28,000 for the whole program.

Well, let spend half of that for Tier 1 school.

    71. Michigan State University $$14,250.

Well, there were some elective courses which were "only" $900, but when I calculated the cheapest possible way to earn the degree, it was still around $25,000 and again, this was several years ago.

If someone is looking for prestige as far as it relates to DL Criminal Justice programs (not the school overall), I recommend University of Cincinnati, Michigan State, Florida State, and University of California-Irvine (not necessarily in that order).

    Another CJ option

I found another option from Cal State San Bernardino. They just started an online option this year.

From what I understand, it is normal in-state/out-of-state fee rates. So if you are a resident of California, then this can be an inexpensive option for you. If not, some other programs may be cheaper.

I couldn't agree more. I've often wondered why someone would even consider a DETC program when there are RA programs that are comparable in cost. Why limit yourself?

There is no guarantee that any school will accept any credit hours in transfer since transfer policy is at the discretion of the receiving institution. Transfer of credit hours between regional accreditation bodies is not even guaranteed. That said, sometimes a particular degree major/concentration is only available at an institution which is nationally accredited (DETC). The acceptance of nationally accredited credit hours and degrees is slowly improving and there are schools, today, that will accept such credit hours in transfer or such degrees as prerequisite to higher-level studies.
