I have about $20,000.00 worth of education left for my doctorate at northcentral university. I need a private loan because they are not a federal institution. What loan to get? I have great credit. Another option is to try to take my 17 units somewhere else and get a loan from a federal institution. What does the board think?

You may want to consider a Home Equity Loan or Line of Credit. Third Federal Savings offers a HELOC at prime minus 1.01%.

Have you considered working for a company that pays your tuition? The tuition for all my degrees was paid for by my employers. One of the nicer perks (I was always surprised how few employees did not take advantage of it - especially that degree subject was unlimited).

I am starting NCU in two months and got my entire education funded through Wells Fargo from the NCU site. The rate was very good for a private loan.
