I was just wondering if anyone could explain Walden's KAMs to me? I earned my MS from Walden, so I'm wondering how different these are from the courses I took as part of my MS. Thanks, Matt
KAMs are different from courses in some significant ways. KAMs establish the competencies the student must demonstrate. But the student prepares a learning agreement for each KAM that articulates WHAT the student will do to reach competency and HOW he/she will demonstrate competency. KAMs, as I understand them, bring a student-centered approach to learning. Courses, where specific curricula are established and implemented, are much more institution-centered.
Hey there is a yahoo group for Walden students, that is very active, many are doctorate students and I am sure some could explain the KAM process even further: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/waldenustudentlistserv/
