Does anyone know if the Big Three assessment colleges give credit for state licenses, e.g. Cosmetology license, or Real Estate license?

I think "automatic" credit is only given if there is an ACE recommendation or the school has conducted its own assessment. However, one could always use the portfolio process with the licenses as supporting evidence; the hard part would be finding courses from RA schools to challenge which fit the bill.

Real estate probably wouldn't be too bad, but cosmetology might be tough as that's considered more a trade than an academic subject.

If I recall my Bears' Guides correctly, I think that Charter Oak State College www.cosc.edu , Excelsior College www.excelsior.edu , and Thomas Edison State College www.tesc.edu do offer credit for various professional licensure exams, but it'd be best to check directly at the school websites themselves.

Looks like Charter Oak will do a "special assessment" which could result in credits. Not sure how much. And Excelsior and TESC appear to require one to do a Prior Learning Assessment to receive credit. Our local community college offers the real estate courses for credit. I'm guessing in that case they would transfer just like any other class.

My wife has a manicurist's license and is thinking about doing the real estate classes. I'm suggesting she pursue a degree. Problem is she doesn't know what she wants to be when she grows up.
