So I already been persuaded to take three classes with DeVry hopefully if you guys change my mind I can still get out of them ...the classes haven't started but in a day or so (is it too late for a refund?). This is towards a degree in Technical Management with an emphasis on network & communications management which sounds fishy to me. They still only want to give me 40 credits and say they dont know any body else giving as much credits as that for the degree I already have.

I have an associates in general studies from Central Texas College and I need a Bachelors degree in something IT related to get into this job I want. I see AIU looks like a good choice as well as Franklin, Saint Leo, American Military University, University of Massachusetts's- Lowell. I noticed AIU cost 30 grand about to graduate which is a lot but you can get it done in 13-16 months or so. The only thing I am looking for is an accredited school that will accept really close to the two years (60 credits) that I already have and give me equal to or less than two years to complete (less than or equal to 60 credits left... or really close). Anybody have any suggestions for me? I am in the Military right now so I am trying to take online classes only and shortly ill be living in GA. Thanks

I see that BSIT with excelsior looks pretty efficient.

Why not just withdraw, do the research and then make an informed decision?

Athabasca University: Bachelor of General Studies

Since you already have earned a AA/AS/AAS (60 credit hours) in general studies from Central Texas College have you considered a 3-year (9- credit hours) BA in general studies?

Specifically, I am thinking of the Bachelor of General Studies (BGS) offered by Athabasca University. Athabasca University (AU), located in Alberta, Canada, is regionally accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE). Similar to Charter Oak State College (COSC), Excelsior College (EC), and Thomas Edison State College (TESC) there is no academic residency required at Athabasca University, but 45 credit hours (15 3-credit hour courses or there equivalent) at the senior level (300 and 400 series) are required. You can compare course designations using the course catalogue in helping to determine whether a particular course is senior level. Prior learning assessment (PLA) is possible for up to 9 credit hours (arts and science) or 21 credit hours (applied studies). You can customize the remaining credit hours to suit the courses you need/want to take in the area of information technology (IT).

Sage advice. There is no point rushing into a particular programme of study that you are not entirely sure will meet your meets. To that end, is there a specific area within IT that interests you or that would meet the requirements of the position in which you are interested? Good luck.

You indicate relocation to Georgia lies in your future. Okay. Take a look at the WebBSIT - Bachelor of Science in Information Technology - through a consortium of five Georgia universities. Tuition costs $291 per hour or $873 per course.

There are many others out there as well. Western Kentucky University also offers a great IT undergraduate program online.

Are you receiving a military discount from DeVry?

have three free classes to take by august

I wanted to take classes in a hurry because with DeVry (if i wanted to stay with them) I wouldn't be able to use those free class spots (if i didn't start classes this term) because I get out of the Navy in August and the course wouldn't end till after. I am thinking Excelsior is the best deal i seen so far.

A concentration in Networking classes is ideal for the job I am trying to get and seems like it has a lot of room for growth.

Fort Hays State University (FHSU) offers a BS in Information Networking and Telecommunications which seems to address your interests and future employment plans. Along with the degree you can earn the Cisco Certified Networking Associate (CCNA). The tuition is $148.00 per credit hour. The degree is regionally accredited which will make getting into a graduate degree easier if you decide upon that route in the future.

You likely need all the networking courses and few, if any general education courses. Therefore, regardless of school you want to minimize the credit hours remaining in your bachelor degree. Compare Excelsior College (your current favorite) and Fort Hays State University to determine the most beneficial route to earning the bachelor degree.

Check out Bellevue University. They offer a number of IT Bachelor degrees online, including a BS in Internet Systems and Software Technology. Plus, Bellevue will accept your entire Associates degree in transfer.

Why go for a bacherlor's when you can get a masters degree. Charles Sturt in Australia might consider you as a master's student if you have some IT certifications. You might be given credit as well for these.

...at$330/crhr - $990/course, they're far from cheap. FHSU's $148/crhr - $444/course is less than half the cost. (had to throw in a FHSU plug  )
