Hello, I am so glad I found this board. I am curious to know if anyone knows of any online graduate level geography courses. I am wanting to diversify my teaching opportunities at the community college level. I already possess an M.Ed in history so I do not wish to complete a degree program, just take 18 grad hours in geography. I am aware of the courses offered by Mississippi State, however after speaking with my local community college those courses would certify me to teach a "science elective" principles of physical geography course. I am more interested in world regional geography, a "social science elective." Thanks!
Hey there! Old Dominion University offers three online geography courses thoughout the year. They are a part of the World Geography Connects series which were created to help Virginia teachers gain a further understanding of course material that relates to the Virginia standards of learning. You can see these at http://onlinecourses.pwnet.org/ The down side is that they are only offered a few times a year, and if you aren't a Virginia resident, you have to pay out of state tuition. I have not taken either of these courses, though they are in the back of my mind. They are 6 weeks long. I'm not sure if they'd help you met your needs or not, but check them out anyway. -Matt
Thanks for the link. Those classes would be great, however living in Alabama the out of state tuition is too much to handle.
