Hello, I am so glad I found this board. I am curious to know if anyone knows of any online graduate level geography courses. I am wanting to diversify my teaching opportunities at the community college level. I already possess an M.Ed in history so I do not wish to complete a degree program, just take 18 grad hours in geography. I am aware of the courses offered by Mississippi State, however after speaking with my local community college those courses would certify me to teach a "science elective" principles of physical geography course. I am more interested in world regional geography, a "social science elective." Thanks!

Hey there! Old Dominion University offers three online geography courses thoughout the year. They are a part of the World Geography Connects series which were created to help Virginia teachers gain a further understanding of course material that relates to the Virginia standards of learning. You can see these at http://onlinecourses.pwnet.org/ The down side is that they are only offered a few times a year, and if you aren't a Virginia resident, you have to pay out of state tuition.

I have not taken either of these courses, though they are in the back of my mind. They are 6 weeks long. I'm not sure if they'd help you met your needs or not, but check them out anyway.

Thanks for the link. Those classes would be great, however living in Alabama the out of state tuition is too much to handle.
