Anyone take these courses? They are free but there isn't much else in the way of having them transcripted, evaluated, etc. I looked on ACENET but didn't see them listed. What do you guys think?

    DNA.gov Forensic Courses

A quick perusal of the course offerings suggests they might be applicable to forensic areas other than only DNA, at least the overall concepts w.r.t. evidence collection, scene integrity, etc.

The web site mentions their training partners do not award continuing education units (CEUs) for these courses. However, upon completion of each course you can print a certificate of completion (name included).

The material is interesting in and of itself and the certificates of completion might enhance your c.v. / resume.

    Additional free training

Another good training source is Fema training.

However, the FEMA courses are only of academic credit for US citizens. Of course the issue of how FEMA determines whether someone is a US citizen is not clearly spelled out. A social security number (SSN), which many non-citizens have as a result of working in the US, and a US mailing address, which is easily obtainable at a UPS Store, might be the only criteria; who knows?
