Just finished Q318 and Q118...

Took me all day but I got both done. Pretty easy courses and I found them more interesting than most FEMA courses. I looked on the ACE Site and did not see any other "Q" courses listed as having been evaluated. Does anyone have any other "Q" courses they have taken which amounted to any credit being given?

 

Those are the only two NFA Independent Study courses that have been ACE evaluated. Even though it's not ACE, TESC grants credit for Q534.

Cool...I'll do that one tomorrow. I also cannot seem to find out how to have these courses transcripted. I searched this site and saw a few postings but never any solutions. The Q course aren't on the ACE site for transcripts. Any ideas?

NFA should transcript your courses as they are completed, just like FEMA, but they'll actually send you a certificate in the mail. Didn't you get a message following the course completion that said you passed? If you're asking how to get them transcripted by ACE, you'll first have to open an ACE account. I believe it's $35 or $40. NFA does not participate in the electronic transcript verification service that ACE offers so you have to do it the old fashioned way. You'll have to call the help line on the NFA website and tell them that you want to add two completed courses to your ACE transcript. They will send you several documents via email that you have to complete and send back to them. They will then verify the courses and forward them to ACE for transcription. Once transcripted you will be able to see them on your ACE online account.

No Pug I didn't get an email about passing but if I look at my completed courses I can print them from my account. I guess they are going the way of FEMA in that regard. I registered on the ACE site already and I went to the transcript section. The problem is that none of the NFA courses are even listed on the site. I'll send the NFA people an email or call and see if they can send my transcripts to ACE. I'll update the response. Thanks...

 

Wow guys. I just finished Q534, It was a very easy course but maybe that's because it was a Terrorism course and I'm in law enforcement. Either way it was pretty quick and easy.

 

The reason NFA is not listed on the ACE site is because they don't participate in the electronic verification and transcription process. You have to do it the old fashioned way...have them send you the papers, complete the papers and send back to them, then wait for them to send to ACE.

Objective: To teach fire and emergency service personnel how to do a better job of planning, implementing, and evaluating safety programs, particularly in working with various people in the student's organization and within their community; to help students understand some of the basic concepts about how to get started with an organization's community safety education programs; and to assist students with some tips and techniques on a variety of topics such as methods for locating partners to assist with community education or techniques for locating resources for safety programs. The program is easy-reading, enjoyable and thought-provoking.

Well I'll be darned! I called ACE and asked them about these two courses and was told that NFA did not use the automated system. I had to file for them using the paper and pencil method!!!! ACE even emailed me the paerwork to complete. Geesh! This would have saved me a lot of time and frustration.

I spoke too soon. Though these courses are listed on the ACE website, they are NOT listed on the part of the website that allows a student to electrnically transcript the course. The person at ACE that I spoke to is correct. In order to add the courses to your ACE transcript you will have to complete all of the paperwork and submit it to ACE manually.

I have had an ACE account for a long time. To get Q118 & Q318 on my ACE transcript I got the one page National Fire Academy transcript request from the NFA website, filled it out and mailed it to the NFA. I listed ACE as the one for my transcript to be sent to by the NFA. I then waited and checked my account periodically online to see when ACE had them listed. Once listed I requested a copy from ACE to be sent to the college of my choice. Never spoke to anyone from ACE during the process.

Wow. That transcript request is WAY easier than the 4 or 5 page book of nonsense ACE sent me to send to the NFA for completion. I think I'll give the simple transcript method a try. That said, I have sent the NFA 3 transcript requests over the last 3 or 4 weeks. Neither TESC or Bellevue has received a copy from them, nor have I....VERY frustrating. I wish they were as easy and as efficient to deal with as FEMA.

Upon written request from the student, the NETC Office of Admissions will provide transcripts to students and educational institutions at no cost to the student. Please include the following information in your request:

I'm not sure that it matters, but the room number is different on the transcript request form itself. It's room 222 on the address above, room 216 on the transcript form.

I was just filling out the NFA transcript request and it notes that it will send a copy to the university or college of your choice. Is it possible to just send it directly to TESC or should I have it transcripted through ACE and then sent?
