    Hi all,

I'm wondering if I should be worried about this. I decided to send my transcripts from UoP, Walden, and Virginia Tech to APU to be evaluated for their new MEd in Administration program. I received my copies of the transcripts days ago, but APU says they still haven't received them. Should I be worried about this, or should I just give it more time?

Also, does anyone here have any experience with transferring graduate credits to APU? How long does it take to evaluate everything?

    Thanks,
    Matt

Official transcripts often take longer to process on both ends of the transaction. Do not worry, APU might already have the transcript but it has not been put into your student file yet.

At Thomas Edison State College the transcript might appear in the student folder 'transcripts received', but take a couple of weeks to actually show up in the academic evaluation. I expect APU processes many documents on behalf of current and prospective students; therefore, a time lag is to be expected.

Matt I've had the same problem. I completed a grad certificate at Indiana State and it took APU a long time to receive it. I've had to follow up many times with the records office at ISU before the problem resolved. I don't think it was APU's fault since they requested it on multiple occassions.

    how to handle transcripts

The easiest way to deal with transcripts, especially from multiple schools, is to have each school send you multiple sealed copies. Then when you need to send transcripts somewhere, you just put one of each in a large enveloped and sent registered receipt mail. I've done this for years. Two major benefits:
    1. transcripts cost money most places now and if ordering "in bulk" a lot of schools will give you a break on the fee of the transcripts
    2. transcripts get to where they need to be FAST and you have a signed receipt to prove they were received (I had one school "lose" my transcripts and I sent a copy of the signed receipt and they reimbursed me the fee for each transcript and the postage).

I am an adjunct professor and teach at a lot of schools. I also apply to teach for several new schools each year. Every school wants official transcripts so about every 2-3 years, I order 20 copies of my official transcripts to keep for sending out to new schools. It's saved me a lot of money and gets my transcripts to schools within just a couple of days of the request. One school where I took some classes charges $5 per official transcript. Three times in the past 8 years I've negotiated for 20 transcripts for $10. It's the same most places. They'll negotiate for "bulk" orders of officials.

When I wanted to take some classes at APU, it was a total of 5 business days from the day I sent my transcripts to APU and they were received and processed.

That does sound easier. Unfortunately, I've been told previously I can't do that. (Not necessarily with APU.) When the school states that transcripts should be sent DIRECTLY to the school, the school will not accept them from me, even if they are sealed. On every transcript I have personally recieved from the four schools I've taken classes with, the envelopes always say "originally issued to the student". Employers and such will take these, but I've found that schools will not. That's just my experience.

I'm just going to wait for APU. I'm really in no hurry.

None of my sealed transcripts have anything printed about being issued to the student. They're in envelopes ready for me to address and stamp and send. I've never heard of a school having a problem with transcripts sent like this.
