I am very pleased with NCU and the receptive nature of the President to field unannounced calls from prospective students. His secretary/receptionist didn't even ask who was on the line before she put me through.

I have been observing in the forum for a few days trying to find out more about NCU and had just about enough from the speculation of dbahomer about what was going on so I called the president and spoke with Dr. Clinton Gardner to ask him a few questions about the restructuring and accreditation issues.

To be honest I thought I would get the voice mail and a recruiter call me back but to my surprise he simply picked up the phone, and after I stumbled to introduce myself, and to get over the shock, I fumbled out a few questions. Politely he answered and then said he had a meeting but took my number and promised to call back. I thought that was when the recruiter would call me but to my surprise about an hour later he called back prepared to talk and address my concerns.

I asked some pretty straight up questions about his video and financial restructuring and he said it was it was and needed to be done for the future. We talked about the accreditation fand he downplayed the three years but said when he was at Argosy they used to get five. I suspect he would have liked to get 5 here as well. I can hardly hold a man responsible for a 3 year renewal who has only been on the job for about 3 months because they needed to fix a run away staff issue. He also took some time to explain to me the value of RA accreditation and ACBSP accreditation as well he he spoke about the teaching method and flexible learning options.

I had enrolled for about a year in U of phx DM but the money and time and jerks i had to study with dampened the experience and because I was also studying to be a catholic deacon at the time I though UPHX could go away. Big bear john warned me about them I should have listened. When he told me to look at HW in the mid 1990's for my MBA it was bang on advice. It changed my life etc etc. but today with DL I am not so sure about HW anymore ( just an aside, no flames please). The last Time I spoke with JB he said I should look to Australia for PHD. Currently I am looking at Griffith because they offer full scholarships for two Canadian College Professors a year and if I get in well what can you say Free is Free and if I have to bite the bullet and do a residency extended to vacation in Australia well I guess that is what I just have to do. ( But I digress)

For now I really wanted to say that I am very pleased with the responsiveness of the Dr. Gardner; a very good sign in my books. Oh yes he did have the recruitment director speak with me and I also found Brent to be a big help. I will take both up on their offer to call back anytime as I narrow my PHD hunt further. But for now NCU is on a very short list with me. Two thumbs up.

    God Bless

That is very impressive, and for my two cents, I hope that NCU can do what it needs to do to please the HLC. If NCU were to lose accreditation, the anti DL shrills would have a field day.
