I had almost decided to enroll in MCNY - Metropolitan College of New York this year.
They have one year MBA programs and if one has a good GPA they could waiver the GMAT. Thieir classes start every 4 months so the next batch starts in April and the one aftr that in September. I am interested in the September batch.
I called them the other day and they said that they are accredited by the Middle States..?
I am pretty confused about how good this college is because I do not know if they have companies visiting them for campus recruitment and their answers sounded slightly vague over the phone.
I am studying for Gmat nowadays and have a bachelors in Liberal studies from Excelsior with a 3.2 GPA.
They said since my Gpa is pretty good, they could consider waiving the gmat which made very suspicious about the program.
I want to know what steps I need to take to find out about this school.
I am going to have a hard time arranging for the tuition and so I really want to be able to attend a good school that will help me get a decent job in NY.
If anybody knows any other one yr MBA schools in media management in NY then please let me know.
Also, what kind of jobs do MBA's in media management get.
If any of you know about this school or could find out for me, then I would be really grateful.
    Thanks a lot,
    Adoncia

I am in NYC and I can tell you that the Metropolitan College of NY is indeed a college in the city, and it is very legit. That being said, it is on the expensive side, and the name brand is not that strong. If you want to come to NYC for an MBA, Baruch College (CUNY) is a much better option.

Thanks so much for the information.
Baruch does not have 1 year MBA programs that's why am not looking at it at the moment.
I was wondering if you could tell me what kind of jobs one may expect after an MBA in Media Management.
    Thanks again,

My wife is in the media communication management field. If you don't have any experience in that industry then the MBA in Media Comm will get you exactly the same entry level jobs that a BA in Comms will and the competition for those is very high.

The industry is competitive enough now that very many applicants for management/administrative positions, even low level/small outlet management positions, have a master's degree and 5-10 years of experience.

Are you sure you're going about picking this degree the right way? Why would you pick a course of study and then ask what career options there are? Why not examine career options and then pursue the course of study that qualifies for that career? Unless of course you're just keenly interested in higher academic study of that field - in which case an MA might be the better option. Just a thought.
