Thank you for the responses regarding Regent University. As someone pointed out, the cost can be prohibitive. At $500 per credit, I'll need a second mortgage. Are there any other regionally accredited schools that offer doctoral programs at a more reasonable cost? Thanks again for your suggestions.

It's a shame the search engine for this forum is defective, since so many have been discussed here. Quite a few people seem to find the Australian and South African alternatives acceptable; they can be 100% nonresidential, and clearly meet a lot of people's needs (Sturt, Cowan, Southern Queensland, Monash, UNISA, etc.). In the US, Walden, Nova Southeastern, Capella, Union Institute, Touro, and Argosy are probably the most often-mentioned properly-accredited schools.

The 14th edition of Bears' Guide describes them all, and many more.

I can add to John's list that if you are interested in Ed.D's from a charismatic Christian perspective you may want to try out Oral Roberts University. Not too bad as far as cost and they have both a secular Ed.D and an Ed.D focussing on Christian schools (including Higher Education). It is done through independent study and short modular courses.
