Can any Regis online MBA alums or current students provide some experiences with Regis' online MBA program? Specifically, are the classes heavily geared towards writing tons of papers for each 8 week course or are the courses more about solving financial problems?

I am in the application process (missing my essays) and am a little "put-off" by the university alliance rep. They seem to illicit the feel of an agressive salesperson pushing a product. Kind of like, enroll now to take advantage of this great discount for your first course or something about a possible increase in price for the next enrollment date if I don't enroll for the March admission date. The tuition for the entire program is somewhere around $27k.

    Thanks!

Although I cannot answer your questions about the Regis program I would like to offer my opinion that $27,000 is too much for a non-AACSB unranked school. I would recommend UMASS for that price range. You may also find the staff there a less pushy.

Other than that, I have heard good things about Regis and I wouldn't worry too much about the University Alliance folks as it is their job to sell the program.

I completed the Regis U MBA in 2002. It really depends on which course you're taking. For example, the course on international business is heavy on research and paper writing while the course on finance is heavy on quantitative calculations. I think the program has a healthy mix of both.

I'm not sure where you got the 27k figure from. I complete the entire program for about $12k.

Thanks for the information Macattack. I am also applying for UMASS Amherst and am scheduled to take the GMATs in a month because of the required gmat scores.

The Regis tuition of $27k, 700 per credit (books not included) is listed on their online mba website ran by university alliance at www.mbaregis.com. I originally took a double take when I saw the tuition because I think UOP and a bunch of other RA schools are actually cheaper.

Unfortunately, there must have been quite a few changes with the cost structure since you've taken the program AV8R. Thanks!

    My thoughts...

I felt that the Regis program was excellent, although I realize that the cost has gone up since then (mine was 100% paid by my employer). The University Alliance people are there to sell but they were WONDERFUL for all other issues i.e. books, scheduling, canceling classes etc. Plus the website maintenance is totally reliable, never any connection or usability issues.

However, that being said, if I had it to do over again, I'd go with an AACSB-accredited program. When I started in 2002, I just wasn't aware of any that were easily accessible, and didn't spend a lot of time looking (and regret that a little). But my instructors at Regis (with only one exception) were great - very experienced professionals. Several of them were very helpful when I started looking to teach and I'm still in contact with two.

If you're in Denver or the surrounding states, Regis may be good because of the name recognition. I'd suggest Regis over UoP any day, even if it's more expensive.

If you want AACSB, I'd suggest looking at Fort Hays State and Jacksonville State. All AACSB programs require the GMAT but don't let that stop you.

Yep, looks like you're right. I went to the regismba web site and checked it out. I'm really surprised to see that the tuition is more than doubled in such a short time. :(

Just found out the reason for UA's goal on aggressively enrolling folks for the March entry date is due to the expiration of their contract with Regis for the online MBA program. Regis will be handling the enrollment and program support in-house going forward for all future students and UA will continue to support all students enrolled through Mar08- -- confirmed with both Regis & UA.

The UA rep that had been helping me with my app has now suggested I apply to Florida Tech's online MBA program, as this is the program UA will be representing & supporting going forward. She had mentioned Florida Tech is a great school with an excellent reputation and is also possibly a candidate for AACSB. I was not able to confirm this on FIT's or AACSB's website. Is here a website to verify this information easily? (Other than calling the school directly?) Also, how does FIT compare to Regis in reputation for MBA's? I've done a search here for FIT and the threads are a bit dated. FIT's tuition is also ~27k, books additional. Thanks!

MBAonline - Thanks for the info!

AV8R - A 125% tuition increase from 5 years ago is pretty spectacular. Now if only my IRA would yield that type of return over 5 years...

I don't know much about Florida Tech but Regis is consistently ranked as a Tier 1 regional university year after year. I don't know why Regis has never tried for AACSB accreditation.

Florida Tech is a good school; I used to live near there and it's well regarded locally. But "also possibly a candidate for AACSB" sounds like admissions salesperson vapor -- what university with a business school isn't "possibly a candidate for AACSB"?
