    Hello, all.

I am enrolled in a brick-and-mortar evening MBA program at UNLV. I don't want to take the economics class because I've heard the professor is bad and my undergraduate major was economics so I think the class would just be a boring waste of my time. I can transfer up to two classes towards my degree requirements with advance approval from my MBA program, and I have been informed that they would need to be from another AACSB accredited MBA program to be approved.

So, any suggestions where I can find an inexpensive AACSB accredited MBA economics distance learning course? If it is self paced or offered in the summer that would be even better -- I would like to knock out this requirement over the summer while I wait for my regular brick and mortar classes to start up again in the fall.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi Jacqueline - Here is the best list of online MBA programs you'll find:

    http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/Haven/2386/dlmba.html

I know of no list of specific courses. If you cross reference the list from AACSB with the one above you can check a few websites for the course you want. Some schools don't let you take individual grad courses unless you're enrolled in one of their degree programs. Beyond that, the only program that I know anything about is the one at UMass (it's AACSB):

    Good luck

How do you know the economics class at another school won't be even worse? ;-)

I think your best bet is going down Kizmet's list and asking each one if you can take a class without being in their program.

The UMASS MBA does not have an economics course. However, you can take up to 2 courses there without being admitted to the MBA program. So if you have any other courses you would like to knock out this summer, it is an option. $670/hour.

Even a bad distance learning class can't be as bad as one you have to physically sit through.

There are what, 100 AACSB accredited schools on that list? I was hoping y'all could help me narrow to the less expensive ones first.

    Thanks!

Sorry, I listed the wrong link .... here's the correct one. http://www.jsu.edu/depart/ccba/curriculum/mbaHome.htm

    Here's the thread. http://forums.degreeinfo.com/showthread.php?t=27657&highlight=jacksonville

$225/grad credit hour is the cheapest I've seen.

Also try Fort Hays State University http://www.fhsu.edu/mba/courses.php

It can be bad. It can be VERY bad. If it is the instructor you have a problem with, another option you might want to consider is doing a different economics course with a different instructor at the same school. Perhaps even an "independent study". If you go to the dean and tell him/her your concerns, they might let you sub out a different course.

I took ECON 5000 online over a summer at the University of Wyoming while enrolled as an undergraduate student. It's the MBA microeconomics class. They've made enrolling as a nondegree seeking student a little more annoying, but if the class is offered this summer, it might meet your needs, as UW is AACSB.

    Good luck!
