That is a ranking of enrollments, not quality. Very different.

I'm interested in finding out if such a list exists for top online MBA programs in other regions, e.g Asia.

No, it's not. The list is ordered that way. But the list is called, "32 of the top distance learning and online MBA providers." Not the top 32, just 32 of the top (of how many?). And there is no indication of who determined "top" MBA programs. And the list includes Robert Kennedy College, a well-known suspect. And the list is offered by one of the schools listed. (How convenient.) And it even says itself that it isn't comprehensive. And....you get the idea.

Are you able to give us a list (in no special order) of Asian distance learning MBA programs?

    rabbuhl,

Thanks for this, I knew this was on its way, but wasn't sure when. My school Henley is in 6th place but without knowing how many schools were assessed it is difficult to know what this means. Some surprises (Open University) and some surprise omissions (Imperial).

It looks as if they pre-selected the 10 schools on some criteria and then compared these 10 to each other. Why do no other schools feature in any of the three sub-categories?

    All the best,

    Dave C.

The Economist Intelligence Unit has been publishing an annual edition of Which MBA? -- with various subtitles, commonly, "A Critical Guide to the World's Best Programmes" for at least 25 years. The same author-researcher, George Bickerstaffe, has done it the entire time. The 2008 edition came out last December 31st, which a price of more than $90.

Well, let's see: This is your first-ever post and you spend it attacking someone else on the board.

    Yeah, you're credible.

Agreed. Perhaps meby2k should post their credentials before openly attacking a known and credible participant on this forum. What is your agenda, meby2k?

I can personally vouch for Heriot-Watt's MBA

Just my $.02 worth: I was working on the distance-learning MBA from Edinburgh Business School, Heriot-Watt University. It was fiendishly difficult -- the toughest of any master's program I've ever encountered and that's been quite a few. I completed and sat for exams in only three of the "soft" courses, and I use the term "soft" relatively. Yeah, I'm a wuss, I admit. When I was being interviewed for a job as assistant Director of Technology & Systems for the local County Superintendent of Schools in CA, they not only knew about Heriot-Watt's program but were impressed that I was working on it.

    I'm just sayin' ......

I can hardly believe what I just read .....

Whaaaa???? I guess you don't know that DR. Bear is a hero to tens of thousands of us who never knew the existence of distance learning until we stumbled upon his books. I've used his knowledge and pubs since 1989. He has always taken great pains to educate us about degree mills, what is accredited, what isn't, the states that "authorize" colleges to grant degrees (like California), which is not the same as being regionally/nationally accredited. (Who knew?!) His information has been invaluable over the years, constantly updated, immensely helpful.

Had it not been for DR. Bear I would never learned about U of Oklahoma's Liberal Studies program. I would never have known about CSU-DH's master's program in Humanities. I would not have known of so many options for learning from your home or office. I've been in several master's programs, all through distance learning, all found through DR. Bear's web site or publications.

Thank you DR. BEAR. You're a true inspiration.

meby2K: "You and your various "schools" have been at the top of the "diploma mill" lists for years (good example - "La Salle University" in New Orleans)."

John: Dear Michael -- I really don't mind criticism, but I really don't like outrageously incorrect statements. Are you suggesting that I had some connection with LaSalle University (in Mandeville, not New Orleans)? Do say more. What I say is that my only "connection" with LaSalle is that they sued me for $3 million because they didn't like the things I wrote about them. (That was shortly before founder James Kirk was indicted on 18 counts of mail fraud, wire fraud, tax fraud, and conspiracy, pleaded guilty, and was sent to federal prison.)

meby2K: It's also quite interesting that you seem to have stopped calling yourself "Dr." John Bear.

John: I suppose it might be interesting to a few people if I had done this. But I haven't, at least not intentionally. What's your evidence? Incidentally, I deduce that you may live in the San Francisco Bay Area. If so, I'd be happy to buy you a double latte at the excellent Uncommon Grounds Coffee Shop in El Cerrito and discuss common interests.

Oh, and thank you for your ringing endorsement of the MBA of the Edinburgh Business School on another forum. That, of course, is the program that I was involved with, pretty much full-time, for eight years in the 1990s.

What happened here? Who the heck is meby2k and where did his/her posts go?

The "shadow" post copied by TCord1964 is a travesty, so were all traces removed?

I think Chip and Kizmet and Bruce typically say when someone has been removed, banned, and/or tarred & feathered, but not this time (so far).
