    Good evening!

I first heard about the doctorate in social sciences offered by the University of Leicester in this forum a few years ago, and I understand the program continues to grow. According to the official press release at http://www2.le.ac.uk/ebulletin/news/press-releases/2000-2009/2008/01/nparticle.2008-01-25.0628269599 on the web, the first students who started back in 2003 are now completing the program. Members of the initial cohort have been very helpful to other students as they have navigated through this unique program, and now they have been officially awarded the Doctor of Social Science degree as of this past Friday afternoon.

    Regards,

    J. Ayers

Indeed. If people from North America are interested in the program, please follow the link in my sig line below.

    Rich,
Have you graduated from the program or are you teaching there?
Would you say that this program is targeted to people wanting to working in HR ou public policy or is it somehow related to business administration as well?
What is the general slant of the degree or research involved?
    Thanks.

Neither. Our company represents them in North America. We advertise, recruit, enroll, and then handle administative and logistical support for North American students.
The degree programs (there are six master's degrees, the doctorate, plus certificate and diploma programs) target people working in HRM and HRD, organizational development, training, etc. Not business, like an MBA for example.
I'm not sure how to answer this, beyond what I've mentioned. In the doctoral program, there is a significant theoretical component--you really get immersed in research methods (both quantitative and qualitative), including theory. Then you spend two years on HR-related coursework. There are many modules to choose from; you choose 4. Then you write your dissertation.

Please see our website (in my sig line below) for more information, or write to [email protected]. Hope this helps.

    Thank you.
I have a friend that's already obtained her grad degree and was looking for something HRM related for a doctorate. Since she's working in North Africa now with a dearth of english programs, I'll pass this one along.
