Hello, all. A colleague of mine, a public school coach and teacher, has expressed an interest in a totally online (totally distance, at least) option for obtaining his master's degree, probably in the field of education or related. Here are his perameters: 1. Cost between $5000 to $6000 2. No thesis 3. No GRE 4. Totally online 5. 30 hours Anyone care to help? All responses are much appreciated. basrsu
Louisiana's Northwestern State University is very inexpensive, and they have a few Master's programs that may work; one's in educational technology, another is in adult education. I'm not sure whether they're 30 or 36 credits nor whether they require a GRE to get in or a thesis to get out, but when one's ceiling is six grand one may have to compromise. http://www.nsula.edu/ece/ensu.asp -=Steve=-
Western New Mexico U. The Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies at Western New Mexico might be interesting to a coach. http://www.wnmu.edu/VirtualCampus/InterdisciplinaryMasters.htm online students pay resident tuition so cost is well under $10K it may or may not require a thesis - this is negotiable depending on the subject GRE/MAT is not required if you have the requisite undergrad GPA (3.0+) it is completely online it is 36 hours (I've noticed that most master's are exceeding 30 hours these days) Participants pick 2 or 3 of the offered subject areas (education is one): Computer Science – Management Information Services Criminal Justice Education English History Political Science Psychology

California State University, East Bay They offer a 100% online MS in Education program for less then $10,000 for out-of-state students and considerably less for in-state students. Emphasis of the program is online teaching and learning. I'm a graduate of and now faculty in that program, and I highly recommend looking into it. No GRE, and completion time is less than two years for most students. The program is 40 quarter units, which is equivalent to about 30 semester units. Students have the option of a thesis or a final project. http://www.ce.csueastbay.edu/degree/education/index.shtml?intid=x_otlc2otlm Tricia Schodowski M.S.
