I've been writing about them for years, as one of the very few opportunities to earn a very usable teaching credential totally nonresidentially. (The student teaching and practicums can be arranged in many non-US locations.)

Now I am having a bit of personal experience, having recommended them to an American friend currently living in Bangaluru (formerly Bangalore), and teaching at a Canadian high school there. Despite Rio Salado's claim on their website that they will work with people in any country in setting up student teaching, etc., they now seem to be saying that they will only work with schools with US regional accreditation in other countries, which of course most don't have. I probably annoyed them when I asked if that meant they would not work with a student teaching at Eton or Harrow or indeed Oxford or Cambridge.

I wonder if perchance anyone here has had experience, good or otherwise, with Rio Salado, and would share facts and/or opinions.

    Experience with Rio Salado

I am a Walden University student and they work with Rio Salado for core requirements (as do others such as UoP). I took a geology class and liked it very much. They sent video lectures and even a box of rocks ;) It was self-paced and I went to a local proctor. It was by no means an easy class! The counselor I dealt with was very helpful. I would take more classes from them.

    Hope this helps.

While I do not have experience specifically with the teacher credential program (not many other community colleges have this kind of program), I did teach for Rio some years ago and was extremely impressed with how far ahead they were in offering a wide variety of deliver instruction (even before there was such thing as online courses). In the community college arena, Rio has always been ahead of the curve when it comes to innovation.

Given my experience with how well the students and instructors were treated by Rio and how well things were run generally, I am surprised and disappointed that you have expereinced this difficulty with them.

When I dealt with Rio Salado a number of years ago they were very helpful, despite being abroad they had no problem with me taking the teacher certification through them. They said however that I needed to arrange the practicums/teaching practice via the state of Arizona and that would almost certainly need to be done in Arizona.

The education authority in Arizona however were about as useful as a donkey running the Kentucky Derby. Numerous emails and phone calls went totally unanswered.
