I ordered information from California Pacific University just to look at it. Next to the PhD and DBA box (select program you are intreested in), there is a comment that "Students Have Upto 36 Months To Finish This Program, But May Finish Sooner..." Does anyone find it strange that the max time is only 36 months?
After the initial 3 years they will charge an additional $300 for evey quarter thereafter. Just curious as to your thoughts about the balance of the info?
Yes, that's strange, even if they just mean coursework. I'm used to seeing seven years, or even longer. -=Steve=-
I find 'up to 36 months . . . or less' a very strange construction, comparable to the excessively annoying (to me) ads that say, "Save up to 30% . . . or more." It would be interesting to know what the average time is for the doctorate. At many state-approved schools it used to be well under two years (back when I was monitoring such things). Union Institute used to have a two-year minimum for their PhD, but later changed it to three.
I see it now. I was only looking at the application not the entire handbook. I still think it is strange.
I haven't seen the printed materials in 3 or 4 years. I worked on the DBA between years of 1996 (start) and 2003 (finish), including one stop out (don't remember how long) and a year (?) long extension. I believe the verbiage is intended mean, "Look, you don't have forever to complete this and if you run out of time you MAY be granted more for additional tuition." I don't think the language is intended to be onerous, just to mean, "try get it done in three years." Dave
