Does anybody know the progress of Walden's proposed doctorate in engineering from its NTU college?

I haven't dug into engineering doctorate in US for some time. It will be great if anybody can share this subject's information with me. I wonder whether there is anybody actually finished an engineering doctorate in US through DL.

    Many thanks.

    Good afternoon!

When I last communicated with the people at the University of Alabama at Huntsville several years ago, they had multiple people in the PhD program in Industrial & Systems Engineering. Information on the program can be seen at http://www.engdl.uah.edu/b/index.php on the web. Several people in the program have published in the Engineering Management Journal, and it appears this program has a number of graduates. You may choose to talk to Dr. Dawn Utley who received her PhD from UAH, and her contact information can be seen at http://www.iseem.uah.edu/faculty/utley.shtml on the college website.

    Have a nice day!

    Thanks.

Talking about engineering management doctorate, there is also a PhD in Technology Management from Indiana State University, which pays in-state tuition if study DL. http://www.indstate.edu/distance/technology-phd.html

Anybody here has experience with this program?

Besides engineering management, does anybody actually finish a PhD in Electrical Enigneering or Computer Engineering through DL? Or maybe this kind of technological research degree cannot be finished in real world?

    Good evening!

Colorado State indicates that one can earn a PhD in Industrial Engineering without a residency requirement (see http://www.learn.colostate.edu/degrees/industrial-engineering.dot on the web), while the University of South Carolina offers MS & PhD coursework in multiple engineering disciplines (electrical, mechanical, chemical, civil, etc.). Please note, however, that USC clearly states that some residency will be required for the research component of the PhD program (see http://www.engr.sc.edu/apogee/apogee.html for more information).

    Have a nice day!

    All,

Thanks a lot for your information. It seems to me that management oriented programs can be done through DL.

A few years back, University of Idaho, Auburn University, Mississippi State University all have DL option for most of their engineering PhDs. But now, they dropped almost all except one left in MSU. Most probably because engineering PhD needs a lot of lab work and face-to-face discussion, which are not easy if one studies from a distance.

I'm still trying to find a good PhD in Electrical Engineering program. digging, digging......
