    Hello,

Would appreciate some help for a friend who is looking for a distance learning program in economics or some combination of econ/finance. What are the "better" schools/programs out there that offer these types of programs via distance learning?

    Thank you.....

Economics, at least in terms of doing a full degree, seems to be a bit of a void in the DL world. Others may have some leads. I can only suggest University of London's External Programme, which offers both undergraduate and graduate economics options.

Expanding to finance there are many more options (ie: MBA prorams).

    Hello,

Thanks for the suggestions. I guess I should have mentioned that she is looking for an entire degree program and not individual courses.

    Thank you

The University of Strathclyde offers and MSc in Economic and Management Policy. http://www.mscemp.org/

The University of Reading offers an MSc in International Securities, Investment and Banking and offers some courses with a higher math requirement. http://www.icmacentre.ac.uk/undergraduate_and_postgraduate_courses/msc_international_securities,_investment__and_bank/msc_isib_distance_learning

This program is taught by the London School of Economics (part of U of London) - a prestigous school.

Also the price is great at under $6,000 for the BSc

It isn't exactly "taught" by the LSE, but rather is developed by the LSE. From what I understand it is independent learning, thus the low price. The Masters degrees at the University of London are taught courses and as such, have a significantly higher price tag.

Too bad LSE does not offer masters degrees via distance learning. There are some post-graduate economics offerings at Centre for Financial and Management Studies (CeFiMS).
