Canceling/Postponing Excelsior Exams?

I signed up for an Excelsior exam months ago (World Population) that is due soon and I won't have time to complete it in time, so I'm going to lose the money I spent registering for it.
Will there be any other negative actions, such as an F grade? Can it be rolled over into another enrollment period?
Since I already have the study materials, I'm planning to study it on my own and just wait until I will have time to schedule the exam before even registering with Excelsior again.

I didn't see it in the website. I can call the school next week and talk to someone there, but I'm wondering if anyone here has personal experience or prior knowledge.
