When I finished my undergraduate degree I graduated with a 2.1 by the skin of my teeth. I was in a fraternity, played sports, and cared more about other things at the time. Then, after getting married and having a child, I went back to school and got a MA with a 3.75 GPA. Now, I am thinking about getting a PhD or second masters to teach but is this realistic? Considering any school I apply to will look at my undergrad GPA, is it possible that they will overlook it? I guess what I am asking is, would teaching be an unrealistic goal given my undergraduate GPA?
A lot of schools will look at the graduate work + experience but the top level programs may hold that against you. I would think your graduate level GPA would help overcome the low undergrad GPA.
You got into grad school once, and that was before you proved that you'd cleaned up your act. I'd think you'd be okay getting in again now that you have. -=Steve=-
Go for it - my undergrad GPA was 2.3 in communications/journalism. After a few years I went back to an AACSB B-school and earned an MBA. I had a few hoops to jump through, but nothing too bad. Besides, your grad work will be what attracts the most attention to the hiring committee. Shawn
