I have seen several programs that offer an EdD in Organizational Leadership. http://www.schoolofed.nova.edu/doctoral/concentrations/org_leadership.htm Why is this an "Education" degree and not a business degree?
Because there are other kinds of organizations than just businesses. To me it makes sense to have different programs for different types of organizations, i.e. DBA, DPA, and EdD. I could see a DMin in it as well. -=Steve=-
Because it's designed for superintendents and principals rather than CEOs. There is a real question about whether any of this helps someone be a more effective principal or superintendent, but that's the current market.
I have to disagree with Jeff. I graduated from the Nova Ed.D. program in Org. Leadership and this program is for a number of job opportunities. The program centered on learning organizations and leadership styles and you can minor in a number of different subjects. Many organizations have "education" departments or "training" departments that this degree could be used for. You see this in hospitals, state licensing groups that regulate continuing education (elect. contractor, etc.), federal and state government and even large corporations. This degree is for someone who wants to have the latitude to choose education or business and industry as a career choice. Duff
