My son is enrolling in an Automotive Technology Management program at Pensacola Junior College in pursuit of an A.A.S. He is looking at creative ways to fulfill the general education requirements (15 hours). All of the classes he needs are available through Penn Foster and all of them are Ace Reviewed. From what I've read, it looks as though it would be better to use the ACE Transcript Service to provide the school with their recommendations. Has anyone here had any experience using Penn Foster in conjunction with ACE Transcripts and if so what was the outcome? Looking for any comments, advice, etc.
Pensacola Junior College also grants credit for many of the CLEP exams, which may be an even cheaper (and quicker!) option than Penn Foster. http://www.pjc.edu/forms-apps/studentservices/ClepAwardPolicy.pdf
Good point Fortunato! In speaking with many college students, I find their counselors seldom inform them of DANTES or CLEP test options. Of course, time and money wise, it is more lucrative for the schools to have your butt in the classroom seat! Good advice. Abner
USFA Q118 Self Study Hi, I googled USFA Q118 Community Safety Educator which can be transcripted as 1 semester Gen.Ed. credit among other things. ACE transcript required for this. Hille
I take Penn Foster courses and have them transcripted by ACE before sending them to Thomas Edison State College. It's a smooth, very easy process. I think the ACE service ran me $45 or so and includes 1 transcript. Every transcript after that runs $15. Pug
FYI. Pensacola Junior College will not recognize ANY credits from Penn Foster, despite any ACE recommendation.
That's odd, but every college has that right I suppose. I've not encountered that prooblem anywhere with ACE courses. Pug
For now, although the Spellings commission has been trying to take that right away for the last few years. I know the University of Virginia won't take CLEP, and those are usually accepted as they are because they're ACE evaluated. I expect as you go higher up in the academic food chain you find more examples. -=Steve=-
