    Hi All:

I have been meaning to post for some time now (but had problems with accessing the board) to give everyone a SHOUT OUT for their kind assistance in my search for a way to get back into the graduate studies world.

Before I begin, I want to thank Bruce for getting my account back up and running and Steve for getting a message through to him. Thanks guys!

Last November I decided that UNISA was the school for me so I gathered up all the documents and applied...I have still not heard back from them. I used Dr. Esselen in Canada as per the recommendation of the board and still had no luck. He is a very nice person and promptly replied BUT he could not even get UNISA's wheels rolling on my application. If it takes them ten months (and counting) to make a decision on a grad student I want no part of studying with them.

So...back to the drawing board...or this board anyway! Then Northwestern State University came up (thanks Basru!) and I checked the program out. Dr. McFerrin and Dr. Kim have been super helpful thus far and it looks like I'll be taking my first course this fall. I still have to write the GRE  this November (it is not a common requirement in Canada) and am studying hard for that now. It has been a long time since I have done any Geometry or Algebra!

I plan to complete the Ed.S and then see where I can transfer the credits to complete an Ed.D - thus far I have seen interesting posts on Liberty University and NCU.

My goal is not to be a University professor. I want to have a second career as an International School Administrator when I retire from my school system here and I feel the Ed.S & Ed.D will give me an advantage. I also enjoy school and am not afraid of a little adversity in getting to a worthwhile, terminal academic goal.

So thanks to you all for your interesting posts, your relevant observations and your collective wisdom -- it has been most helpful for this reader!

    Ian

PS - If anyone else is a Northwestern State University student in the Ed.S (Technology) program, I'd love to connect.

    Glad to help!

That is tremendously disappointing. How much effort did you put into trying to reach people there, phone calls, etc.? (Not trying to say you didn't do enough, just looking for more information that might help others!)

    Do you have a link?
