What is the typical structure of a Penn Foster course? For courses such as calculus, physics or economics is it just the one proctored final exam, or do you have to turn in assignments and/or take other exams? If so, do you turn in these assignments or take these tests online? How quickly is it possible to complete these courses? -Chris
Penn Foster courses are made up of self check assignments, online exams that are not proctored, and one proctored final exam. The number of online exams depends on the class. I've had as few as 3 or 4 and as many as 10 or 12, but there is always one final exam. Like anything else, the amount of time it takes to long as 8 months to complete a course and as little as 6 weeks. Pug
No, each of the online exams also count toward your final grade. I should also add that the final is not always a "test." For example, my english final was an essay. In fact, about 3 of my online exams were also essays. My wife has taken several classes with BYU and they follow a very similar format. Pug
Thanks, I was wondering how useful they'd be for someone who already knew the material through prior learning. For example, having taken an AP class in high school but never having taken the AP exam. They'd only be useful in this context if they were possible to complete relatively quickly. -Chris
If you really knew the material you could move through them very quickly. Of course if you really knew the material you could probably just take a CLEP exam and save time and money. Pug
