Does anyone know of an inexpensive (RA or NA) school offering a graduate certificate in CJA?

    Thanks!

Thanks, but those look like certificates in garden variety "CJ" rather than CJ Administration. I'll keep looking, thanks again!!

A good place to search would be the links in Bruce's (the Moderator) sig block; he has pages showing all the DL programs in Criminal Justice and related degrees at both NA and RA schools (from bachelor's to doctoral level). I'm guessing that some of the schools offering graduate degrees in this area might also offer a grad certificate, too.

    Cheers,
    Adrienne

    re: CJA

San Houston State offers a Masters in CJA. No cert.

    http://www.shsu.edu/~dl_www/mscj.html

This program in Criminal Justice is designed primarily for persons who aspire to management positions in the field of criminal justice. The series prepares students to work in various areas of criminal justice administration including, but not limited to, organizational management and social policy.

Sam Houston's program is nationally regarded as one of the best in CJ

The web site is confusing but it looks as though the fees for distance students are the same for in-state and out-of-state . About $1000 for a 3 credit course.

Distance learning courses have an additional course fee of $303 per course in addition to tuition and fees. The Student Service, Student Center, and Recreational Sports fees are waived if only on-line courses are taken and the Distance Learning fee is charged. A distance learning course for the Fall 2007 semester would cost $998.00 for 3 hours.

    Brian,

Take a look at Saint Leo University's 2006-2007 Student Catalog. It appears Saint Leo offers a graduate certificate in CJ Management which consists of 6 courses (18 semester hours). They charge $341 per graduate semester hour plus an additional $105 for each online course, so there may be cheaper options out there for you to look into. The nice thing about Saint Leo University is that they offer many different options for completing the required courses and the school may provide strong name recognition for you in the Tampa, FL area.

    Brian,

Here's another graduate certificate in CJ Administration offered by the University of South Florida that may be of interest to you:

USF's tuition is lower than the tuition at Saint Leo University, however even though the USF certificate is titled "CJ Administration" it appears there is more of a management/administration focus in Saint Leo's certificate program.

Just a thought; have you considered contacting a school that offers a DL graduate degree in CJ Administration and also offers DL graduate certificates (not in CJA) to see if they would "customize" a certificate program for you?

    One option to start; [IMG]

Yes I have but no one has stepped up. I am now looking for a Management certificate as the criteria meet what I'm basically looking for.

    Thanks for the reply.
