In preparing for the start of my doctoral program at DSU, I ran across a link to the Decision Sciences Institute and their newsletter titled Decision Line. Many of the articles from Decision Line are available as PDF's online...and there are quite a few related to "Doctoral Student Issues".

Interesting reading...some interesting tips to help in the doctoral process.

Interesting, Eric. Thanks. This article entitled 10 Mistakes Doctoral Students Make in Managing their Program is both interesting and a little naive:

Perhaps the author has forgotten how difficult it is to "manage advisors" or select topics that are meaningful enough to be approved but not "too ambitious"? Still, there is some good advice here about building synergy and limiting distractions.

The NCU program just wasn't for me. I liked the 'study at my own pace' aspect, but the 'for profit' aspect of NCU always stayed in the back of my mind and caused me some grief. I also looked at Colorado Tech's DM program but the cost and 'for-profit' aspect was tough to overcome.

After some soul searching I decided an IS degree was best for me and my career goals and DSU was the best option for me....it gives me a public, B&M school with a very long history that is open to DL doctorates.

You can read a more in-depth overview of my search for a doctoral program and my decision process on my doctoral program on my blog on the Education page @ http://ericbrownpm.com/education

Thanks, Eric. A friend was asking me about CTU and you were the only person I knew that had interacted with them. I appreciate it.

No problem...if they want more detailed info, feel free to have them contact me and I can help them get in touch with the people at CTU that can answer their questions.
