This post is being relayed from a member of another forum who has been unable to post here because of the recent problems with degreeinfo's registration process that has been out-of-order for a few months now.

I have been trying to post but never success. May I ask you or if you could help me post it at degreeinfo?

I am planning to finish my B.S. Degree through online study. Right now, i have two school in my list.

Bellevue University and Peru state college. They both are RA.

    Which one is better?

Personally, i feel Peru State College is better because it is public school and run by State but they don't take as much credits as Bellevue does. Bellevue wavied all the lower division and i only have to study major course 36 credits (12 courses).

And also, Peru State College's courses are more in Liberal Arts like Financial accounting, statistics, Business accounting which i feel much more difficult to study. Is it because they are public state school?

On the otherhand, Belleuve University courses are more like a vocational experience.... such as Windows AD, Information Security, Database admin, network etc for Major in CIS. I feel more comfortable in terms of studing and passing grade since i have been working in this field.

Which school would you think will more appreciate by Employer?

Peru State School has been there since 100 yrs ago. I had a bad experience before after i got my AS degree from Masters Institute... they closed down of business.

    Thanks.

If Bellevue is only requiring him to take 12 courses, I would lean in that direction. They are both good schools, and I don't think he could go wrong with either one, but if time and money are of the essence it seems Bellevue would be the better choice.

Both are perfectly fine. If the person were starting from scratch, I'd say Peru, but in this case Bellevue seems to make more sense.

Im gonna be the counter point here I guess. Peru all the way. Why you ask?
    Here is why:
Bellevue at $320 per online credit hour = 36*320 = $11520 not including books
Peru at $157 per credit hour lets say double the credits = 72 *157 = $11304

So even at double the credits peru is still cheaper. Plus it is a state school.
    Also

You want to major in CIS but say this:

"Financial accounting, statistics, Business accounting which i feel much more difficult to study"
You need these things to be effective in a business environment. I don't see how they could be more difficult than CIS classes.

I would be more concerned that you ARENT getting them at bellevue.

No question that Peru wins on tuition, it's not even close. That said, if someone were to make a decision on tuition alone, why not LSU? LSU is also a state school , has far superior name recognition, and even has AACSB accreditation. I prefer Bellevue due to its accelerated format, interesting majors, and liberal credit transfer policies.

LSU as far as I can tell does not offer any degrees. So how can you compare it.

Here is a reply I received from USMATRIX over on online.degree.net; hopefully the registration issue can be corrected here on the degree forums site...sooner than later?? I can't imagine how many potential members have been lost.

    Hi,

Thanks for your posting at degreeinfo and their feedback was great.

Regarding the response from the member, Tution is not a primary concern to me because company is paying for it.

The most i concern would be which school will be more appreciated by employer? (State vs Private)

What if want to step up for a Master degree in the future? Is Bellevue or Peru accepted by other RA schools? Anyone had similar experience before?

Is the school going to be around today and next twenty years (I checked Peru State and they have founded since 1862) I had a very bad experience with my previous education where i earned my AS degree... they close down of business.

PS. Bellevue is very generous in terms of credits transfer... they accepted my whole AS degree which mean i only have to focus in upper division (12 courses).

    Thanks in advance.

I don't expect the person would notice a significant different in employer enthusiasm. Both degrees allow employers to "check the box" when it comes to whether the applicant has a degree. Unless one goes to a really well known school, that's all that matters.

You are correct...my apologies. The LSU degree is actually granted through UNO.

Just a quick summary about Bellevue. The school was founded in 1966 and has 13 locations in 5 states. The school began offering online degrees in 1996. It is RA accredited, business programs are IACBE accredited. Here's a link that gives a bit more information about recent Bellevue awards, http://www.corporatelearning.com/news.aspx.

I am currently enrolled in the MBA program and have completed 8 courses. I could not be happier with the instructors, mostly fulltime faculty, and the overall experience.
