Hi folks. Well my exercise lab is now set up, I have IRB approval for a pilot study that will start in a few weeks, and I will be off to South Africa in early October be present my thesis proposal to the faculty.

It has been really easy working with Zululand so far; they are not as - how should I say this - anal about paper work :) . For the ethics committee, they will review the proposal and let me know what questions/concerns they have. No templates to fill out, just have to get them the proposal. It took a lot more paper work to get the IRB approval from a local hospital to do the simple pilot study!

Things are moving along. Thanks again to all of you that suggested I check on the South African universities. This is working out great!;)

Good show! This is excellent news for those of us also considering South African schools.

Another brief update. I presented my thesis research proposal at UZulu a couple weeks ago, which was accepted, and then toured with my promoter. My wife came along and we were able to go to the game parks and see the big animals (except no big cats - they are rather shy).

Recruiting for a pilot study and that is going too slowly, but that is not unusual I supose. By rule I can not finish the degree sooner than 2 years anyway, which is spring of 2009. Hope to actually have everything done by then.

Keep up the good work -- and the updates. Like I said, they're more informative than you may realize.

Will do. I got a lot out of reading other's posts here before I made my decision. I learned a lot on the way to settling on UZulu and always happy to share.
