    Hi everyone,
I am almost done with my BS in Liberal Studies from Excelsior. I am officially done but I might take a couple of exams to increase my GPA.
I would like to enroll in an online MBA program. I would prefer an MBA with emphasis on Media and communications or an MBA in Media Management.
I cannot find anything that would suit my criteria. I need a program that I can complete within a year, online and self-paced and CHEAP.
I just cannot afford an expensive program right now as my husband has taken a huge loan for his full time MBA.
Please let me know what would be best for me.
I live in Michigan, near Ann Arbor, and it would be great if there was something here that I could attend part time and take online courses as well.
The university of Michigan is very expensive and they have rigid criteria in order to apply there.
    Please advice,
    Adoncia

The University of Missouri-Columbia has an MA in Journalism with an emphasis in Media Management, but you need 3 years work experience in Journalism.

Metropolitan College of New York offers an MBA in Media Management, but I'm not sure if it's available via DL.

I have been searching for a good, cheap, online graduate communications program for years, and there are very few available. New programs have only become available in the last year or so, and they are usually generalized communications or journalism programs.

What is the end goal for your career? (there may be other education options)

If I might ask, what is your age? Or how many years do you plan to be in the work force? Also, will you consider nationally-accredited MBA programs, such as California Coast University? Would an MBA emphasis on marketing or public relations be a good fit? Will you consider online schools that have very little brand halo effect or reputation, such as NCU?

    Sorry for the machine-gunned questions...

    Dave,

Just curious with your following statement. What makes you think that NCU has "very little" reputation? I am not arguing with you but I would like to know your criteria of "very little reputation".

"Will you consider online schools that have very little brand halo effect or reputation, such as NCU?"

I mean the school is small and virtualy unknown in the workplace, and a few jerks (i.e., representives from the school who shill for it while pretending to be students) on this board have dragged its name through the mud with their childish behavior. Their BS program is priced about right. Their MBA seems vastly overpriced. The psychology programs look like a good inexpensive option for those who don't require APA accreditation. The doctoral programs have attracted some bright people, but I'm afraid they have too many doctoral students and the doctoral degrees have little academic or economic utility. Their graduate certificates look like a good possibility for those with existing masters degrees to re-tool subject matter for teaching or another career. The above is sort of what I meant by the statement that NCU has "very little brand halo effect or reputation." My opinion...

The sun came out a moment ago, I heard birds singing, little bunnies playing, and quite possibly an angelic chorus in the background; Dave Wagner finally used the term NCU instead of NoCentralU or whatever. My life goals are complete.

Hi. Thanks for making me smile... I didn't use that other descriptor because you gave me the impression awhile back that it bugged you, which wasn't my intent. Actually, I used it the other day, too.

LOL! Good one! I kind of liked NoCentral myself, made it easy to search and find the strange accusations without references associated with the use of the name.

If you're that close to U of M, you're also close to Eastern Michigan University. You'll find that their criteria is nowhere near as "rigid."

So, Adoncia... what did you decide?
