I'm looking for a Project Management Certificate, that is:
    • Online
    • Provides some sort of certificate in Project Management - preferably from a college/university
    • Asynchronous
    • Provides the necessary training hours (35) for the PMP exam
    • follows the PMBOK guidelines
    • Low cost!

This is for a career development plan which I need to submit. There seem to be a lot of PM courses out there, and I'm hoping someone on here might be able to point me in the right direction.

Aspen University offers a project management certificate after successful completion of three required courses.

"As a Project Management Institute (PMI) Certified Education Provider, Aspen's Project Management Program is approved by the PMI (www.pmi.org) and prepares the student to take the Project Management Professional (PMP®) Certification exam, if desired. The PMP® credential is the project management profession's most recognized and respected certification credential. Individuals must qualify to sit for the PMP® Certification examination."

"Total Online Program Cost (Three courses):

    Tuition ($750.00 per course) $2250

Books and course materials (estimated) $250

    Approximate Total Program Cost: $2500

Note: Students paying for the entire program (three courses) before commencement receive a discount of 20% off the tuition of the program. Select "PM Certificate Program" on the online enrollment."

American Graduate University has offered degrees and certificates in PM for several decades. Tuition is $750 per course - 12 courses required for a Masters degree and 6 courses for a certificate.

ESI International is a major player in this area.

Also I know that many PM's in the Oil and Gas industry (my industry) are getting their PMP certifications.
They are all following the courses offered by cheetahlearning.com
This place offers courses online, are ACE approved, and seem to always get results.

    Good luck!

Stanford's PMP cert is actually quite reasonable, coming in at around $400/course (6 courses required)...

I would confirm with PMI whether the Stanford APM program would be accepted by them for the required education hours. The APM program does not cover the PMBOK nor much of the content that PMI is looking for in the education hours (quality, scope, time, cost, hr, etc).

It's a good program and definitely worth the money but it isn't a 'how to be a project manager' program...it's geared toward strategic project management & portfolio management rather than project management methodologies.

My impression as well. Stanford explicitly states in its prospectus that it's an advanced level cert for those who are already experienced PMs. In Stanford's view it's a step up from PMBOK.
