Thank you for that information... I am going to check it out. So what you are telling me is that I can get my BA completely online, and then take my state (NJ) test for teaching and apply for certifcation using that degree that I obtain??

Of course you'd want to confirm things in advance with NJ authorities.

Also, as posted here a few months ago, there is now regionally-accredited on-line certification, from Rio Salado College in Arizona. Arizona has reciprocity agreements with something like 20 other states (don't know about NJ). The college makes arrangements for the 'live' observation portion of the process, for people anywhere in the world.

I want to say upfront that I know nothing about teacher licensure in New Jersey. Having said that, it's doubtful that you could do what you suggest. Most states now require a post-BA teacher credential program. It is now (as of the last couple months) possible to do that credential online through (as John Bear says above) Rio Salado College in Arizona. The state of Arizona does have reciprocity with 20 other states, so it could very well work for you. After completing the coursework, you would then need to do the student teaching (which RSC assures us they can arrange with your local school district).

I would check with the college and with your state's teacher licensing office (probably located in your state's department of education)as to reciprocity.
