Hello all, My brother is looking into Myers University's online MBA. Does anyone know anything about this school, it's rep, etc. It's an RA school, but it has an 11 month intensive MBA, which is unusual. http://www.myers.edu/
Legitimate and accredited. This is the old Dyke College from Cleveland, Ohio. Darn, I knew there was a reason I should have attended when I first got my Bear's Guide, 9th edition, 1985!
My dad is a graduate of Dyke College. He was so ticked off when they changed the name of the school to Myers since "nobody would know the school anymore." Since English is my father's second language, Mom thought that he hadn't realized that the word Dyke has other meanings. My poor mother had to explain it to him but he still was not convinced that it was in his or the school's best interest to no longer be known as Dyke.... after all what about all the frat chants? (Mom, who married Dad while he was still in college and does not drink will vouch for the fact the my dad's frat, as well as the other frat's on campus, had all kinds of interesting little drunken chants related to the name of the school. That's why she figured he'd managed to guess that the word has other meanings). Anyhooo - its a great little school in Cleveland and has been around forever. They're best known for educating a business tycoon and Cleveland native by the name of John D. Rockefeller (you can visit his mansion on Millionaire's Row - I believe Myers has a building down there). It enjoys a solid reputation in the Cleveland area but my father opted to get his MBA through another local college after they "went and changed the name on him."
No GMAT required for admission, and the whole program is $15,960. It carries IACBE accredition. It's not ASBCE, but it looks like a respectable program. With completion possible in 11 months, he could certainly do a lot worse. Let us know what he decides.
Sorry, like most people, I know nothing of this school/program. However, I would recommend the following: Saint Leo University is similar in structure (1 year completion), cost, accreditation, etc. I like Saint Leo better, mainly due to the faculty is far superior and it has numerous concentrations. (in other words, concentrations and 12-month completion = even more unusual) Faculty: http://www.saintleo.edu/SaintLeo/Templates/Inner.aspx?pid=414 How would you like to take accounting from this person: Dr. Susan D. Steiner B.A., M.A., Yale University M.B.A., Ph.D., The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania Certified Public Accountant Or, although a 2 year program, he can get an AACSB degree for the same cost from the University of Nebraska - Lincoln (yes, the Cornhuskers)! You wouldn't have to ask "who are these guys"
