Just thought I would let everyone know that I swallowed the last piece of the elephant today. I am done with my PhD program at Northcentral University. I did the Business program with a dual specialization Public Administration and Management. I found the program to very challenging and rewarding. I would highly recommend the program to anyone contemplating NCU.

All in all I'd like to thank the members of this forum for your support and good nature. I wish you all the best in your pusuit of higher knowledge.

    Good for you, congratulations!

I assume you were the one doing the oral defense yesterday; I was going to listen in but got sidetracked in the afternoon.

Go forth and represent your fellow NCU learners well!

I examined changes in first term enlisted marine retention between the pre and post 9-11 periods. I specidically examined the effect of extended deployments and time away from family had on retention. Being a former marine, I found it very interesting!

Well I work for Dell, which is a VERY relaxed atmosphere. Everyone wears jeans and a t-shirt and we call everyone by their first name (Michale Dell is simply referred to as "Michaell"). So I don't believe I Would be well recieved if I started to demand that I am henceforth referred to as "Doctor."

I have started using PhD at the end of my e-mail signature however. I think that it's only benefit is that it will make people respond faster because they may think that I am important!

Perhaps if I am fortunate to find a position within academia (part time) such as at a community college or even a liberal arts school, I will ask to be referred to as such. Also, I'm sure that there will be some situation where I'll need to pull the "doctor" card! :)

That was me! You missed a very interesting round of questioning by my chair and Dr. Neiman. They kept me on my toes to say the least!
