NCU moves into its new World Headquarters on 5/21/07. Here's a photo:

Nice place. From the angle of the photograph it almost looks like there's nothing else around....like the NCU building is sitting in the middle of nowhere.

It is is the middle of nowhere e.g. it's in the middle of the desert. NCU had to contract with the city to "extend" municipal services to NCU's new location, to include sewer and water.

Looks a lot nicer and more spacious than a Mailboxes, Etc. :D

When I first considered NCU I Google Earth their address. The building looked like something one of those unaccredited California for-profit schools where you buy an MBA or DBA would have. This is a huge improvement!

Do they own the whole building or just some office space on the 3rd floor? I have known companies to use the whole building as a marketing tool, but actually rent a floor or part of a floor.

I do believe they own the entire building but do not occupy it all. I recall NCU being the ones getting the zoning approvals done for the building when it first was mentioned. They had said that that they wanted to use some of the building for conferences and left open the possibility for classes and such. I don't know what the current plans are for the future of the building, though.

They own the building. From my understanding, NCU is expecting steady growth and is preparing for it. This from reading their website and speaking to an admissions rep there.

Bingo, Scott. And one thing more...

I can't decide whether moving into a building is something that the school's shills should be touting. I mean it is great to have a building and have the financial position to appropriate a new building, but is it noteworthy? If any of the administration reads this, I hope they will encourage their shills to pick their opportunities on this board wisely. It seems like a good shill would try not to cheapen the image of the school by posting irrelevant and almost silly information about the school.

In sum, it's great that NoCentral U has a nice, new building and presumably has made plans to grow even into the distant future to be there for their students; perhaps this is the message that the NoCentral U shills and trolls are really trying to convey.

Just because someone on this board writes something positive about a regionally-accredited, legitimate institution of higher learning does not make him or her a "troll" or a "shill." Of course there is relevance in an online-only school moving into a rather large building that it has just built...this shows confidence for the future that the school will continue to gain more and more students. Why should a negative spin be put on this, Dave? No, I am not an NCU "troll" or "shill." I am a degreeinfo member who believes that we should all support all efforts to legitimize and project accredited, viable distance learning options as relevant, meaningful, and equivalent in their delivery as brick and mortar institutions.

I did a Google Earth search of the area. Doens't seem to be much around at all. Bet there were some good incentives to build there.

Absolutely ridiculous. Now I have seen it all.

Ignore this poster me again. As someone with no connection whatsoever to Northcentral, I always like to see pictures of DL schools and this is a valuable contribution to the DL forum.

Vincey37, I agree. After spending several hours mulling over Mr. Wagner's post, I still don't understand the gist of his statements. Perhaps he could elaborate. Certainly, there is a hidden meaning or something so subtle that I am not picking it up at all. After all, on a distance learning board, one would most assuredly expect a more positive tone when a distance learning school experiences tremendous growth and stability. I have no vested interest in this dialogue, or diatribe as the case may be, but I do find Mr. Wagner's statements curious. I need to be enlightened, perhaps.

    Lol

    Hi Dave Wagner,

Since you've already accused me of being a "NoCentral troll and shill" with multiple user-names at DegreeInfo.com, NCU headquarters will be notified about your post above. LOL ;)

Dave Wagner, how do you spell "issues"?

If this thread descends into name-calling, I'm shutting things down quicker than Carl Pavano does every year.

Who put a negative spin on NoCentral U moving into a new building? Not me. Let's hear something interesting about the school though, instead of the shills/trolls trying to keep the school at the top of the discussion thread list with inane chatter. The new building was announced and discussed awhile back; yawn. NoCentral U is a relatively insignificant school that we hear too much trivia about on this board.

I am just happy the final building doesn't look like this: [IMG]

Granted, California Pacific University is an unaccredited for-profit place granting DBAs and other degrees but unfortunately most non-traditional schools tend to get lumped together.

Yes, let's hear about the tremendous growth and stability at NoCentral U.

I think the dramatic drop in undergraduate tuition could be a great thing for them, especially in serving military students. However, dropping tuition from $375 per unit to $250 per unit carries an enormous financial risk. Why would a school admit they had made such a tremendous mistake in approaching the DL market?

If a school has 10 undergraduate students before announcing the tuition drop, then there is little risk in dropping tuition. Still, if they had 1,000 undergraduate students, then there is enormous financial risk. Will they recruit the additional students nee1ed to make up the difference? Do they currently have 10 undergraduate students or 1,000 undergraduate students?

Are they getting desperate to grow NoCentral U or are they DL marketing geniuses envisioning the future?

Enrollments can improve now that the price is $750 per course. NCU may be competing with APUS now. However, there are better options for those seeking undergraduate credits for transfer. UCLA offers online courses that are $200 cheaper than NCU. Online certificates in general business with/without a concentration are also offered. http://www.ucla.edu/continuing.html
