Adams State offers courses online http://www2.adams.edu/extended_studies/independent/graduate/graduate.php at a good price but I notice that all graduate Education courses are coded "ED 589" and all graduate English courses are coded "ENG 589". Would this pose a problem if I plan to transfer the credits to another school? I'd hate to register for 3 courses and then wind up with a transcript that looks like I've repeated the same course 3 times. Thanks in advance for any info you can provide!
Sounds like at Adams State, the course number 589 is reserved in all departments for a "Graduate Special Topics," with which the professor can organize a special course (which he/she might even use as a pilot test) or the student can propose an independent study. You shouldn't have a problem. By the way, for those interested, Adams State College also offers an MA in Counseling via distance learning.
Thank you Ted. I sent an email to the school after posting here and you're spot on: the transcript will list the course number and a description to differentiate the courses. By the way, has anyone taken graduate courses at Adams State? I've decided to register and would love your perspectives/comments, etc. Again, thanks
No, but it is a good, small school in Colorado. My Mother-in-law and my wife's Aunt both earned masters degrees in education there several years ago through during summer terms. I interviewed there one time a few years ago and ended up writing a business plan with one of the professors. In sum, I don't have any direct experience with the school but know it has a well-respected and long-running distance learning program. Dave
