Interesting news...If you go to the home page of Grenoble Graduate School of Management and click on the link in the lower right hand corner there is a video interview of the school's dean. In it he announces that Grenoble is currently in talks with three different schools in the United States to offer a joint DBA degree. http://www.grenoble-em.com/accueil.aspx
Grenoble has a lot of experience with this type of joint program. The Grenoble/Newcastle DBA has been running for many years. Before that there was a Grenoble/Henley joint-DBA. It would be a good development if Grenoble would link with a good American university. However, these joint DBA's were not "online" or "DL" type programs. They involved significant residencies and workshops over the 5 years of the program. Heavyweight programs for sure.
In Grenoble's joint programs, am I correct in saying that the university that Grenoble links with is the one granting the DBA? For example, in the Newcastle/Grenoble program, is the degree conferred through Newcastle?
I think I can answer this based on the information I received from the school. The Newcastle/Grenoble DBA is a joint degree; the names of both schools are on the certificate. Having doctoral degree-granting powers, Grenoble now also has a standalone DBA which is granted by just Grenoble. If Grenoble should do a joint program it can go either way depending on the arrangement with the school. Either way this is a good development. Grenoble is one of those European business schools that is on the move and delivers many program in English.
